Volcano:

The magma illuminates Volcano’s body. You can only imagine how the intense heat would feel on your skin. Thick swirls of smoke obscure the star-filled sky. Volcano looks down at the flow of lava breaking through the opening in her chest. Desperately trying to avoid the inevitable, her hands tightly hold together the crater-like wound. We can’t be dormant our entire lives. No one has the strength to hold back a river of magma. We feel the pressure building up inside, pushing underneath our rib cage and expanding our lungs until we feel like they will burst. Unfortunately, the longer we hold in our worries and cares, the larger the eruption will be. Never feel ashamed to open up your mind and spirit to others. We are human beings. Volcano reminds us to let the lava pour out because at the end of every disaster, comes a time of healing. Yes, the lava will leave a scar, but scars are a reminder of how strong we really are. Life is filled with challenges. We must appreciate the moments of peace and contentment.

Zhangjiajie:

Dense forests and fog encapsulate Zhangjiajie’s body. This elegantly carved statue was put on display for all to see by the proud artist who captured her beauty, the Earth itself. The attention to detail was intentional, she was carefully shaped with every curve and deep ravine. Even though the Earth sees this creation as the most raw and beautiful formation, Zhangjiajie finds it hard to see the beauty in Earth’s creation. As time passes, so do the amount of eyes that scan every inch of her body. The gaze of some holding on to judgment, jealousy, and envy outweighs the gaze of those who see beauty, empowerment, and strength. Her insecurities began to set in and soon she started to turn away, covering her body with shame. Cracks formed as the negative thoughts and self-talk filled her mind. The Earth saw her work of art turned into ruins of something that was once beauty undefined. Zhangjiajie reminds us not to prioritize the thoughts of another because beauty has no standards or boundaries.

Pine:

Resting against the mountain, Pine looks toward the sky with wisdom and grace. Her scent fumes through the air, resurfacing memories from the past. She is filled with hope as she ponders the future, wondering how she will grow toward the stars. The color of her needles, illuminated by the night, blanket her soft trunk. She provides a feeling of protection and comfort. Her brilliant colors were inspired by the northern lights. Even though Pine may feel hesitant about moving forward and taking risks, she knows that she is not alone. She has confidence in herself and her goals. Pine reminds us to follow our dreams, no matter how big or how small.
